Morrigan "Mo" Condo: news

First off - thanks to the hardcore Greenbelters who braved the snow to come and enjoy a great night of music at the New Deal Cafe this past Sunday.  In response to the calls for a recording of my version of Honeyed Out written by Kris Delmhorst, I have this link on YouTube to Dave Nenner's recording of one of my open mic performances in Ellicott City.  The recording picks up in the middle of "No More" (one of mine) and "Honeyed Out" starts at about 1:35.  Enjoy!

Yes, the rumors are true. As I have been putting more time and energy into my veterinary career, the amount left over for gigs that run to the wee hours is dwindling. As such, the gig tonight, Thursday, January 21st will be my last Bench show until the summer. So come on down and help me end this run with a bang! The Judge's Bench is a fantastic neighborhood pub in Ellicott City with a marvelous microbrew selection (and none too shabby in the scotch department, as well).  This is a favorite venue of mine, and there seems no fitter place to park my bar gigs until later in the season.  I'll be playing from 9 PM to 1 AM and the kitchen stays open late. More details to be found on the calendar page. And mark your calendars for the CD Release Party at the New Deal Cafe in Greenbelt, slated for Saturday April 3rd.

The leaves are turning and the weather's gone all topsy-turvy, so it must be Fall here in DC! And that means benefit shows for all kinds of furry critters, from wild to domestic. Check out Mo's upcoming open house shows at these special locat shelters: The Second Chance Wildlife Center (Sat., Oct. 17 in Gaithersburg) and the Washington Animal Rescue League (Sun., Nov. 1st). These are both family-friendly all ages events - hope to see you there!

Hey there!  What a great summer it's been - I've been all over the DC area, meeting and playing for lots of new folks, and I've met some awesome people.  It's only going to get better this Fall, with lots more acoustic shows.  The calendar is filling up quickly and I can't wait to see all my new friends again.

Um, yeah, not much news to report here. Plans for the CD Release Party are officially in motion - we've set a date (April 8th), a venue (The Wonderland Ballroom), and yes, the rumors are true, I will be playing with the full band again, now officially named Morrigan and The Strays.

Well, we did it! Fur Love managed to raise over $3000 for the Washington Animal Rescue League. Thanks so much to everyone (too many to list!) for their help in ways large and small. I could not have done this without you!

However, I do have two other shows this week - in Silver Spring (Weds nite) and Baltimore (Thurs nite). Also, I'm working on getting a DC gig and a VA gig for later this month. CRAZY PEOPLE ONLY. This show is a Tuesday night and I don’t even go on until 11:30. Yes, that is right, 11:30. PM.

To make it worth your while if ya do show up, however, I will be playing a non-stop set during the entire 90 minutes I am allotted. No breaks unless a string breaks, and as a stop-gap I have hired a monkey to tell jokes. He promises to be better at it than I am.
So, if you’d like to show up at work on Wednesday morning hungover on five hours’ sleep, find a DD and bring yoselves on up to Leadbetter’s in Fells Point This Tuesday April 8th. I’ll be playing from 11:30 PM to 1 AM straight thru. And no chicken jokes, I promise. Hope to see you there! :-)

I have to say, Melanie (Mel-J - artist manager) and Erin (Rin - Sound Goddess and Siren-in-training) do NOT get enough props for their support of not just me specifically but local music in general. There have been a couple of gigs where them being there was the only thing that got me through a show, and it means so much to me. (I wish I could pay them more). So the next time you see 'em at a show, give them a little "woo hoo" and share the love. Thanks ladies, you are the best!

yeah, I thought so too, but due to a recent earthquake in "Mo-Land" the whole release schedule has been put on hold. I'll have more news soon, I hope, but right now everything is in flux.

However, I know folks have been waiting a really long time, so if you come to a live performance, the new CD "Cords & Strings" will be available for sale at the show. So come on out and see me! peace -Mo

All I can say is, I'm just so happy with how the new EP turned out. I have to thank the following folks who helped out because I didn't get enough liner notes to thank them on the CD - my girls Rin and MelJay, without whom a lot of this doesn't happen; my fantastic sound engineer Blaine; Russ, who did a lovely job mastering at the Furnace; Mike at the Furnace who may just be the coolest guy on the planet; my family, specifically my parents Chris and Joe and my aunt Elaine, who are all my original angels; and last but not least, my sweetie Josh, who has given me absolutely nothing to write about.
